What Does LED Stands for?

A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source that emits light when current flows through it. Appearing as practical electronic components in 1962, the earliest LEDs emitted low-intensity infrared light. Infrared LEDs are used in remote-control circuits, such as those used with a wide variety of consumer electronics.

Early LEDs were often used as indicator lamps, replacing small incandescent bulbs, and in LED displays. Recent developments have produced high-output white light LEDs suitable for room and outdoor area lighting.

 what is led

The magnificent, beautiful, dazzling colors involved with LEDs may be quite picturesque, but do you really know how these effects are actually created in them or rather how LED works?

how led work

The above diagram shows how the light-emitting diode works and the step by step process of the diagram. From the diagram, we can observe that the N-type silicon is in red color and it contains the electrons, they are indicated by the black circles, while P-type silicon is in the blue color and it contains holes, they are indicated by the white circles.

Firstly, the power supply across the p-n junction makes the diode forward biased, pushing the electrons from n-type to p-type. Pushing the holes in the opposite direction. Secondly, electron and holes at the junction are combined. Finally, the photos are given off as the electrons and holes are recombined. And this is the light emission’s principle of the LED.

Due to its long lifespan, energy-saving, no UV radiation, and other advantages, LED is widely used in various fields, greatly changing people's production and lifestyle, and bringing convenience. At the same time, it's no doubt that LED display is one of the most important applications of LED. This small tube would enable the very first televisions to be built and create the LED display industry that has advanced in leaps and bounds from its humble beginnings.

Focusing on products and technology innovation, Unilumin is one of the first group of companies in the LED display industry to lead the technology trend of fine pitch, LED super TV, mass production of Mini LED 0.9, etc.

Unilumin LED

Unilumin’s Unano series of high-end rental market won the highest honor of the red dot award "best of best". The “Black Marble” display series have won six international awards including the German IF Gold Award, the German Red Dot Award, the Japanese G-mark Award, the American Industrial Design Excellence Award, the Asian Most Influential Gold Award, and the China Red Star Gold Award, which breaks the monopoly position of the European and American high-end rental LED display market and changes the world's understanding of Chinese design innovation.
